We checked menus in every legal market we track for "Toad" — it's on nearly 750 dispensary shelves
One phenotype, selected out of 30 seeds in a North Hollywood grow room in 2021, is now sitting on shelves at 474 dispensaries across 14 states. Here's where.

We ran our dispensary-menu database for every listing with "toad" in the name and found a single phenotype selling under two labels: Toad Venom on most menus, shortened to plain "Toad" on others. Across the 14 legal states where our retailer coverage is strongest, it turned up at 742 dispensaries, with 478 of those listings in stock the day we pulled the data. One clarification up front: this is ordinary THC flower and vape cartridges. Nothing in the jar comes from an actual toad.
The genetic has a specific, traceable origin — a cross bred by the Los Angeles-based Ronin Seeds, selected by North Hollywood's Green Dragon in 2021, and propagated since by clone rather than license. We cover that history in full, along with a live map of every dispensary carrying it, in a companion report published today. Dozens of unrelated cultivators now grow the same cut — Select, KYND, Theory Wellness, Tilted, Super Dank, Pro Gro, Crystal Clear, and CAM among them — with no formal tie to Green Dragon or Ronin Seeds.
California (309 retailers tracked, 203 in stock) and Michigan (135, 89 in stock) lead by raw count, largely because they're the two largest markets in our menu data — and because Green Dragon's home turf is California. The more telling number is Oklahoma: 53 dispensaries carry a Toad or Toad Venom listing, and 40 of them, 75%, had it in stock — the highest hit rate of any state we checked, consistent with Oklahoma's outsized dispensary density. Washington and Oregon aren't far behind, both above two-thirds in stock. Illinois, Missouri, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania returned no listings at all.
The name is a deliberate reference to 5-MeO-DMT, the psychedelic compound in Sonoran Desert toad secretion. There's no pharmacological connection between the two — what's in the jar is standard cannabis. At this point, "Toad Venom" functions less like one company's product name and more like a strain budtenders nationwide recognize on sight.
