The terpene myths that won’t die — and what the lab data really shows
Indica, sativa, and the comforting story we tell ourselves at the counter.

Ask for something relaxing and you will probably be handed an "indica." Ask for energy and you will get a "sativa." The lab data has been quietly complicating that story for years.
Effect tracks far more closely with terpene and cannabinoid profile than with the indica/sativa label, which mostly describes plant structure and growing habit.
None of this means the labels are useless — they are a rough shorthand. But the more useful question at the counter is which terpenes are dominant.
