A $60 vape that took two years to make: inside Jaunty's live resin bet

The New York brand scrapped an earlier version before launching two sun-grown live resin cartridges — and it wants regulators to define what "live resin" even means.

New York brand Jaunty just launched two live resin vape cartridges — Heir Heads (78% THC, 30/70 sativa-indica) and Nimbus Snacks (79.4% THC, 80/20 sativa-indica) — both grown at the company's own Hoosick Falls farm and flash-frozen at harvest to preserve terpenes. Both retail at $60, and CEO Nicolas Guarino is upfront about the math: "you can buy a beer for $5 and a six-pack for $20. If you can buy a vape for $40 or $45, that's going to last you longer."

The line took two years to bring to market — Jaunty scrapped an earlier version that didn't meet its own quality bar before shipping this one. That's a slower timeline than most brands admit to publicly, and it's part of a pitch built around transparency rather than hype.

Guarino's bigger ask is regulatory: he wants New York's Office of Cannabis Management to actually define what terms like "live resin" and "live rosin" mean on a label, arguing the category is getting diluted by products that don't match the process the name implies. Jaunty says it's working with OCM directly on that standard-setting.

Next up: live rosin batters, live resin concentrates, and liquid diamonds in the 90–95% THC range, planned for later this year.
