Strain Spotlight
Blue Dream Is Still #1 in California. It's Just Not Flower Anymore.
America's most iconic strain moved $4.2M in California over the last 30 days — but for the first time, most of that came off the shelf as a vape cartridge, not a bud.

Strip out the unbranded flower that dominates every state's sales chart, and Blue Dream is still the single best-selling named strain in California — an estimated $4.18M in sales over the trailing 30 days, a 1.90% share of the named-strain market, moving through 1,584 distinct SKUs at 726 of the state's licensed retailers.
What's changed is the form it's sold in. In the most recent complete week, 47.28% of Blue Dream's revenue came from vape cartridges. Pre-rolls took another 24.31%. Actual flower — the thing the name literally describes — was down to 23.43%, its smallest share on record in this data. Edibles, concentrates, and tinctures split the remaining 3%.
The trend line is soft. Weekly sales peaked in early June at $1.35M, then fell for three straight weeks to $481K by June 29 — a 24.11% drop in trailing-4-week revenue versus the prior 4 weeks, and a 19.93% drop in units. Retailer count carrying it fell too, from around 300 stores most weeks to 169 in the latest week, which explains part of the revenue slide.
One brand owns the name more than any other: STIIIZY controls 17.6% of all Blue Dream sales, more than two and a half times its nearest competitor, PLUGPLAY, at 6.47%. Because "Blue Dream" isn't trademarked genetics — any licensed cultivator can grow and label a plant this way — the strain functions less like a single product and more like a shared brand name that STIIIZY has effectively cornered as a fixed vape SKU.
What hasn't slipped is availability: Blue Dream sits in stock at 923 of the 925 California retailers Crushed tracks for it — 99.78% distribution. Whatever form it takes, it's the one strain nearly every shop in the state keeps on the shelf.
