There's an old strawberry-patch legend in East Coast cannabis lore — a strain called Strawberry Fields, said to have been grown for years in actual strawberry fields in Vermont, genetics unknown, more folklore than documented cultivar at this point. There's also a separate, unrelated Strawberry Fields bred by Crockett Family Farms. CAM's version is neither. It's a proprietary house cross — Red Pop into Cookies & Cream, according to CAM's own retail copy — built and grown entirely within the brand's Sacramento operation, sharing a name with two strains it has no genetic connection to.

That's worth knowing before you go looking for a deep lineage history, because there isn't one to find outside CAM's own catalog. What CAM does have is one of the largest rotating strain libraries in California flower — 80-plus cuts moving through the brand's indoor rooms at any given time — and Strawberry Fields is one of the fruit-forward entries that's carved out steady shelf space in that rotation, sold through CAM's Big Buds hand-selected tier.

The jar earns the name on smell alone: dense, frosty buds carrying real strawberry sweetness, a creamy vanilla note underneath, and a subtle cookie-batter edge that gives away the Cookies & Cream half of the cross. It opens uplifted and engaged before easing into a calm, steady body relaxation — closer to an afternoon strain than a knockout.

Current Big Buds batches are testing at 32% THC, among the stronger numbers in CAM's current lineup and well above what a strain leaning this hard into a dessert flavor profile usually needs to bring to the table.

If you've written off 'Strawberry Fields' because you tried a version that didn't live up to the name, this isn't that version — it's CAM's own cross, and the potency backs up the flavor.

The verdict

Not the East Coast strawberry-patch legend — CAM's own Red Pop × Cookies & Cream house cross, testing at 32% THC with real strawberry-and-vanilla flavor behind the name.
