Alien Labs has built its name on small-batch, potency-forward indoor flower that tends to sell out the day it lands on shelves, and Planetary OG is the drop that's earned a permanent spot in the jar at Crushed HQ. It's an OG through and through: loud, gassy, and built for people who want their cannabis to actually do something.
The genetics are the story here. Planetary OG crosses Propane Valley — which brings the gas, structure, and unmistakable Kush weight — with Area 41, Alien Labs' own flagship cultivar, for a gassy edge, creamy brightness, and layered terpene expression. Alien Labs bred it as a tribute to the classic "Planetary" cuts (think Mars OG, Jupiter OG, Saturn OG) that built the brand's reputation, carrying the same nose-stinging gasoline funk old-school OG fans chase, wrapped in a more refined, modern terpene profile.
Crack the jar and it's sweet lemon, bright pine, and a slightly sugared citrus finish up front, with pine and earth digging into a grounded Kush depth underneath — an earthy, aggressive OG funk layered against a sweeter, candied grape note. On the exhale, the sweet piney gas stays out front while the lemon cream gets even more pronounced. The buds themselves are dense and trichome-frosted, and the smoke is fresh, bright, and surprisingly smooth for something this terpene-heavy.
Lab listings put it in the high 20s to low 30s on THC (26–33% depending on the batch), backed by a myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene-heavy terpene profile. The high lands as clean, heavy relaxation that settles into the body first while keeping the head clear and present — an uplifted, calm-and-blissful effect rather than a couch-lock knockout, which is exactly why it holds up as an everyday smoke instead of a once-in-a-while occasion.
That balance — loud enough to be memorable, functional enough to smoke on a Tuesday — is why Planetary OG is our first Spotlight pick. Consistent batches, a real lineage story, and an effect that works whether it's a wake-and-bake or an end-of-day wind-down. We'll be adding a new strain, product, or drop to this series every week.
The verdict
A gassy, citrus-forward OG hybrid — potent and consistent enough to smoke every single day.
